What is Thanksgiving?

If you live in Canada, the United States, and some other countries in the world, then you will know what Thanksgiving day is.

Some countries have holidays that are similar to Thanksgiving. For example, in Germany, they have the Ernedankfest, or in Japan, they have Labor Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday in October. In the United States, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.

For the rest of us, it might still be celebrated by some people in your country but not nearly as popular as in the ones mentioned above.

Traditionally Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest of the previous year. The history around this day varies from country to country. Today, it is mainly a secular holiday that is celebrated by many.

Of course, there is a lot more to know about this day, but I do hope my brief summary helps.

I also hope that these delicious slow cooker recipes help with your Thanksgiving Day feast. If you have a recipe that you would like added, be sure to let us know.
